Short Essay on 'National Bird of India' (130 Words)

The 'National Bird of India' is the peacock. It is a colourful, swan-sized bird, with a fan-shaped crest of feathers, a white patch under the eye and a long, slender neck. It is a found in many parts of India. It eats up harmful insects and therefore its a good friend of farmers. The peacock is male and the female peacock is called a peahen.

Peacock dance is a popular dance. A peacock dance done in a group is a fascinating sight. When a peacock dances, it spreads out its feathers like a fan which look very beautiful. Peacock's voice is not very sweet. Its feathers are used to make purses, jackets and many beautiful things.

Hunting of peacocks is banned in India. It is fully protected under the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
