Short Essay on 'Cattle' (130 Words)


'Cattle' are Large ruminants (Bos taurus) with horns and cloven hoofs, domesticated for meat or milk, or as beasts of burden. Cows, calves and bullocks are termed as cattle. Cattle have one stomach with four compartments, the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum. Cattle are ruminants. They are maintained mainly by the farmers.

Cattle occupy a unique role in human history. The most common interactions with cattle involve daily feeding, cleaning and milking. Other products include leather and dung for manure or fuel. The dung and urine of the cattle are the best kinds of manure. Bullocks are necessary for plouging the fields and drawing the carts. In some countries, such as India, cattle are sacred. According to Hindu tradition cattle are to be treated with the same respect 'as one's mother' because of the milk they provide.
