Short Essay on 'Independence Day: 15 August' of India (130 Words)


'Independence Day' of India is celebrated on the fifteenth of August. 15th August is a national holiday in India. It is celebrated to commemorate its independence from British rule in 1947.

On Independence Day the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort at Delhi, the capital of India and delivers a speech from its ramparts. He salutes the National Flag. The National Anthem is sung. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle.

Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs take place in all the state capitals. Flag-hoisting ceremonies are also conducted by the local administration, schools and colleges all over the country. In schools and colleges, different competitions are held and prizes are also awarded to the winners.
