'World Ozone Day' is celebrated on 16th September every year. In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly voted to designate September 16 as 'World Ozone Day'. Since 1995 it is celebrated every year on 16th of September. The UN's International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is a global observance.


World Ozone Day marks the importance of Ozone layer and its role in the environment. On this day primary and secondary school educators throughout the world organize classroom activities that focus on topics related to the ozone layer, climate change and ozone depletion. Distribution of awards also held for those persons who worked hard to protect the earth's ozone layer.
