Independence Day: 'Independence Day' of India is celebrated on the fifteenth of August. 15th August is a national holiday in India. It is celebrated to commemorate its independence from British rule in 1947. On Independence Day the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort at Delhi, the capital of India and delivers a speech from its ramparts. He salutes the National Flag.
