Short Essay on 'Gandhi Jayanti: 2 October' (110 Words)


'Gandhi Jayanti' is celebrated as the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhiji, the 'Father of Nation' of India was born on 2nd October, 1869. Hence Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year on the 2nd of October.

Gandhi Jayanti is a National Holiday in India. This day is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.  

On this day all schools and offices are closed throughout the India. Prayer meetings are held at Raj Ghat, New Delhi. Everyone pays their homage to Gandhiji. 

In some schools and colleges painting and essay competitions are organized on this day. Favorite devotional song 'Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram' and 'Ram Dhun' are sung in the memory of Gandhiji.
